0915 - 1000	IAFPD Training: Legal & Legislative Update: Jim Sinclair. IAFPD Counsel This program provides an overview on how new and pending legislative matters will affect fire protection districts and the Fire Service in Illinois. The attorney will discuss current developments in the General Assembly, including the state budget and how it relates to the statewide property tax freeze.
1030 - 1200	IFSI Tour with Jim Keiken, Deputy Director This tour will provide an opportunity for fire protection district trustees to see how firefighters from their departments receive training at one of the premier state fire academies in the country. Trustees will have the opportunity to see the physical facilities used for training and actual training of firefighters in action in this unique one-day event. Tour Training Grounds, Light and Fight, Class A Foam Symposium and Basic Operation Firefighter Blend Practical, Research Lab, Classroom Facilities and Library Tour
1200	Networking Lunch
1300 - 1430	IAFPD Training: Tax Levies & Budgets: Jim Sinclair, IAFPD Counsel This program will be presented in a workshop fashion. On the levy side, there will be discussion of the adoption process for taxed levies by districts which will include EAV estimation & setting levies, the application of rate limits, levy referenda, Truth in Tax, and PTELL. On the budget and appropriation side, the relationship of the budget to the levy and budgeting basics ant techniques will be discussed as well as the avoidance of recurring budgeting problems.

Limited seating is available for this event. Pre-registration by September 30 is highly recommended. "At the door registration" may not be available.

Cost to Attend: $30/person for IAFPD members ($50/non-members)

CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENT (CE)

Trustees who have completed the 3-Part Essential Trustee Training (ETT), formerly named Advanced Trustee Training (ATT,) in compliance with PA 95-0799 in 2019 or before have until the end of 2019 to meet the yearly three hour continuing education requirement. Attendance at this Training Session will meet 3 hours of the continuing education requirement for 2019.

REGISTRATION: Pre-registration is strongly recommended. Onsite registrants are not guaranteed a seat.
